Carlo Ancelotti, who is enjoying his first season in charge at Bayern so far, has said Lewandowski is a key figure at the club and is calm over renewing the Poland international's contract which runs out in 2019.

The striker has been told by executive chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge not to expect a "crazy" rise in wage and the Polish international insists he is under "no pressure" and he's told Bayern they can "talk to me anytime" as he looks to sign a new contract at the club.

After manager Ancelotti recently ruled out his sale, Lewandowski said "these words mean a lot to me. Such a great coach declaring right after his first day in the club that the club mustn't sell me, makes me proud."

Lewandowski: "When Ancelotti declared after his first day in the club that the club must not sell me, that made me proud"

He was linked away with a move to Real Madrid before the Euro's in the summer but said "it never bothered me", "Bayern made a clear statement that I am not for sale. So there was nothing to say anymore."

Lewandowski has been the Bundesliga's top scorer in two of his previous three seasons, 30 with Bayern in 15/16 and 20 with Dortmund in 13/14 and says "I would like to score more than 20 goals, that has to be my minimum" he also says "What's more important is to score systematically. As a top striker it is my job to score regularly."

As previously mentioned he started the season in fine form after scoring a hat-trick against Werder Bremen but they are some things he still isn't happy about. He said: "I wasted some chances and became tired towards the end. But it's only the beginning. It will take two or three more games to reach our best performances."

It just goes to show even the very best are always trying to improve and they are never safe at the top of the tree.
