Home-based Super Eagles defender Kalu Orji has joined four -time Nigeria Professional Football League champions Kano Pillars for the rest of the season.
Orji, 25, has been without a club after failing to renew his contract with Enugu Rangers who he helped win the NPFL title two seasons ago after over three decades without the title.
The centre-back, who can also play at right-back, had his first training session with his new teammates on Thursday morning and is in line to make his debut for the Sai Masu Gida against Akwa United on Sunday.
”Kalu Orji has signed for us and we are glad to add a top quality defender of his calibre to our team,” Kano Pillars media officer Idris Malikawa told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“He is one of the best defenders in the league and we hope he will do well for us like in his previous clubs.”
The former Heartland player has represented Nigeria at two African Nations Championship finals.
He was part of the team that took part at the 2016 edition in Rwanda and this year’s edition in Morocco where they came second.
