Recuperating Anderlecht forward Henry Onyekuru has been voted as the talent of the year in Belgium, where he is on loan from English Premier League side Everton.

Anderlecht and the player posted their message of thanks on their various social media handles confirming the award usually given to the player, who is viewed by many as the next big thing to happen in the league.

Onyekuru stole the headlines last season in his debut season in the Belgium top flight ?with 24 goals for modest side Eupen, who were promoted same season.

His performance won him admirers with so many clubs queuing up for his signature, but at the end Everton won the race to sign him despite the player having a medical at French giants PSG.

He was immediately loaned out to Anderlecht, and after a slow start to life at the club, he found his feet and started scoring goals for fun before he picked up a knee injury in December during a league game against his former side Eupen.

It was feared that he would be needing surgery, but Everton who had him during the first phase of his rehabilitation confirmed that he won’t be going under the knife. A news that means he will still play before the end of the season.

Already he has 9 goals from 19 league games this season, a tally he will be keen to improve on when he returns from the injury lay off that has kept him out for two months.
