Hearts of Oak have launched a late bid to have their Premier League match against Great Olympics postponed due to Ghana’s 2017 AFCON qualifier against Mauritius on Sunday.

The Phobians says publicity over their Accra derby clash has been drowned out by the activities of the Black Stars ahead of the game to be played at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Hearts have also raised concerns over the state of the Accra Sports Stadium pitch – believing the pitch is being loaded with several activities over a short period of time.

“The pitch is taking a battering, no wonder the Black Stars players are complaining about it,” Hearts of Oak Corporate Affairs manager Joe Addo said.

“We played a game on Saturday and then the Black Stars played on Monday before we played again on Wednesday.

“Now we will be playing another big game against Olympics on Saturday before Ghana plays again on the same pitch.

“How then can we also promote this game with the Black Stars also playing?

“I think the PLB should have considered postponing our game against Olympics because we are unable to promote the game well because of the Black Stars match.”

It is unclear whether Hearts’ request will be granted by the Premier League Board considering it is coming too late in the day.
