Gyan struck late for Ghana in Algeria win

Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan says he prefers to have his team wrap up victory early against South Africa to spare Ghanaian hearts from anguish.

The Black Stars left it late to beat Algeria to get their 2015 Africa Cup of Nations campaign back on track after a stuttering start.

Ghana needed a last gasp strike from its ailing captain to put away the tournament favorites.

Ghanaian hearts however during this period was in immense anguish - suffering from near misses from either sides in the win over the North Africans.

Gyan however wants his team to kill off the game against South Africa early to spare the many hearts of his compatriots.

"We go to the field to win and as a striker I always wish to score in every game - it doesn't matter which time," he said.

"But I wish the goal will come earlier to make us more relieved.

"But anything can happen in football so we just have to keep our composure and stay focussed and then make sure we'd what we do best."
