Ghana forward Andre Ayew believes the side is better equipped with experience to be successful this time around at the finals of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Black Stars face Cote d’Ivoire in the finals of the 2015 AFCON on Sunday in better.
This is the second time in five years that Ghana will be playing in the finals of Africa’s flagship football competition.
The Black Stars suffered massive disappointment the last time they were involved in the final – losing at the dead to a more experienced Egyptian side.
But Andre Ayew believes experience is this time around in Ghana’s favour as they come up against favourites Cote d’Ivoire on Sunday.
“These are two different finals – the 2010 final was I think 13 or 14 players right from the 2009 U20 World Cup,” he said.
“We had won the [2009] U20 World Cup and three months later we were playing at the Nations Cup and we got into the finals.
“That final was a different ball game, we went unto the pitch and we were attacking, attacking, attacking. We had all the chances but we couldn’t score and in the last minute Egypt scored.
“So I think there was lack of experience [in 2010 final] and this time also is another final.
“We have a great squad, we’re coming from nowhere because nobody expected us to go anywhere.”
