Ghana defender Rashid Sumaila played his first game for Al Qadsia in their 1-0 win over Al Shabab in the Kuwaiti top flight on Saturday afternoon.

The 22-year-old had arrived to his new club earlier in the week after agreeing to a five-month loan move from South African club Mamelodi Sundowns.

Sumaila was tossed in from the start and lasted the entire duration having proven his fitness in training all-week long.

The former Asante Kotoko loanee was greeted with a standing ovation from the fans before the game.

Sumaila will be playing for Al Qadsia for the second half of the domestic season and will also feature in the club’s impending Asian Champions League campaign.
