Ghana coach Avram Grant is expected to hand fresh call-ups to new players due to worrying injury situations in the Black Stars camp, according to sources close to the team.

The Ghana Football Association has began lobbying with clubs of the yet-to-be named players to avoid any possible tussle.

Already Norwegian-based attacker Mahatma Otoo who was not part of the initial 31-man squad trained with the team on Thursday afternoon.

Grant is expected to at least hand call-ups to three new players on Friday before the team leaves to Spain on Saturday night.

The Ghana Football Association is supposed to give a 14-day notification to clubs before inviting their players for the AFCON tournament but the emergency has forced them to start talking to clubs to avoid any future issues.

Trabzonspor striker Abdul Majeed Waris is ruled out with injury while Everton's Christian Atsu will have his injury situation assessed when he joins the team in Spain.

TP Mazembe winger Solomon Asante has not trained with the team since Tuesday due to stomach cramps but is expected to join his colleagues at the Lizzy's Sports Complex on Friday.

Middlesbrough's Albert Adomah is also an injury suspect.
