Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has paid glowing tribute to legendary coach Jones Attuquayefio who died on Tuesday.

The 70-year-old passed on at the Korle-Bu Teaching hospital after battling throat cancer for years.

Attuquafio, who led Hearts to win the CAF Champions League, CAF Confederation Cup and the Super Cup with the Ghanaian giants, played a significant role in honing the talent of the Black Stars skipper.

The Al Ain goal-machine has took to twitter to express his deepest condolences.

"Sad day.... my great coach and inspirer... he handed me my first chance... Rest in Peace Sir Cecil Jones Attuaquayefio," he tweeted.

The former Benin coach was an outstanding personality who excelled in his chosen profession with aplomb.
