Gershon Koffie: Ghanaian midfielder helps Vancouver Whitecaps to pre-season win over New England Revolution

Ghanaian midfielder Gershon Koffie helped Vancouver Whitecaps to 2-0 win over New England Revolution Wednesday in their first preseason match of 2015.

The first-year Young Designated Player scored twice within the span of five minutes early in the second half, finishing off a pair of well-played throughballs from Matias Laba and Nicolas Mezquida.

Manager Carl Robinson fielded a mix of youth and experience in both halves Wednesday on a beautiful afternoon at the Kino Sports Complex in Tucson, Arizona.

Koffie has been one of the standout performers for Whitecaps since he joined the Canadian side five years ago.

They will also face San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday and Western Conference newcomer Houston Dynamo next Tuesday, February 10, before returning to Vancouver the following day.
