Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr appears to have closed the door in respect to home based players making the Super Eagles squad for their upcoming friendly games and competitive ties.

Nigeria will play two friendly games in France next month before taking on South Africa in the 2019 AFCON qualifiers on June 10 before back to back World Cup 2018 qualifiers against Cameroon.

For now advocates of home based players will have to less optimistic about the chances of any of the players making the squad for the game , as Rohr says Nigeria best players are based abroad.

” We have players we want to test with the upcoming friendlies. We will also look at some areas of the team that needs strengthening during the games, so we won’t call up players for the sake of it”, Rohr told nigeriasoccernet.com.

“Right now the best Nigerian players are in Europe. When a player is playing well at home he wants to go to Europe”, Rohr concluded.
