Speaking to reporters, Cahill said: "The lesson from this season is that I never want this season to happen again.
"I never want to feel like this again - especially at a club the size of Chelsea because we are used to winning competitions and fighting until the very end to win trophies.
"This season has been very different and the lesson is that I want to take the taste of this season and this feeling and the way the season has been and never let it happen again."
Conte will take over the Stamford Bridge managerial reins after the European Championships and he is widely expected to revamp the first-team squad.
With doubts surrounding the future of John Terry, the Blues could be in the market for a centre-back, but Cahill is not worried about fighting for a starting spot.
"We have seen him (Conte) and he has been to the training" the 30-year-old defender continued.
"In terms of additions, that is natural and normal and it has to be done. If John Terry leaves then we will be short on central defenders so I am sure that will be the case.
"It has been the case since I have been at Chelsea that we have had top international footballers at centre-back and I see that being no different and no problem. It is a challenge for all of us."
