Former Akwa United forward Ubong Ekpai who scored the lone goal for Nigeria U23s in a shock 1-0 win over Rio 2016 Olympic host Brazil in a friendly game prior to the Olympics is the rave of the moment in Czech Republic.

22 year old Ekpai has taken the league in Czech Republic by storm this season following his permanent transfer to FC Zlin from Israeli side Maccabi Haifa in the summer of 2017.

In 20 games this season he has found the back of the net seven times with three assists to his name and his performances have earned him several team of the week nomination in Czech Republic.

Ekpai who spent last season on loan to fellow Czech Republic side Slovan Liberec is close to agreeing a move to league giants and perennial UEFA Champions League campaigners Viktoria Plzen.

Viktoria Plzen are favourite to lift the league title in Czech Republic and Ekpai is among the players they are targeting to improve their squad ahead of next season UEFA Champions League.

A fee in the region of €350,000 should be enough to seal his capture with Plzen aiming to beat off interest from rivals Slavia Praha and Sigma Olomouc who are all interested in the services of Ekpai.
