First Capital Plus Bank are mightily relieved by the imminent start of the Ghana Premier League following a three month delay.

The Ghanaian top flight has been unable to commence as originally scheduled due to a legal dispute between the Ghana FA and relegated King Faisal.

The court action instigated by the Kumasi-based club sought an injunction preventing the GFA from holding its ordinary congress session – a pre-requirement for the start of the new football season.

The GFA however managed to get the injunction lifted on condition it will reinstate King Faisal back in the Premier League if it is successful in its lawsuit to pave way for Congress and the start of the 2014/15 season.

First Capital Plus Bank have during the period of the delay lost grounds on their growing mileage since committing themselves to become headline sponsors of the Ghanaian top flight.

The wholly-owned Ghanaian bank is now relieved the elite division will commence at the weekend.

“We are all relieved that finally we can see our way clear,” Marketing and Corporate Affairs Manager of First Capital Plus Bank Nana Yaw Kesse said at the launch of the 2014/15 Premier League season on Wednesday.

“I spoke about negative reportage but now we will like to focus on the positive issues.

“Of course there is mileage lost but we are happy that the league is finally getting started.”

The new Premier League season features some innovations including the introduction of a Competition Management System which will help in gathering data of goals scored, cautions, assists etc.

The Premier League Board have also served notice they will be enforcing regulations on pre and post match press conferences which they say is a must for all Premier League clubs.
