Rubin Kazan are afraid of the consequences of what they have described 'as a very serious disease' which resulted in the exclusion of the powerful midfielder from their 2-0 defeat to Amkar on Saturday.

Wakaso has been hospitalized as doctors in Russia are struggling to cure the midfielder of the disease which is alien to European doctors who have struggled on cure the disease

There were fears also among Ghanaians that Wakaso might have lost out on his position at the club but Rinat Bilyaletdinov has revealed that malaria prevented the player from playing.

"Wakaso has hospitalized with malaria. This is a very serious disease," Rubin Kazan coach Rinat Bilyaletdinov said.

"What are the implications are unknown. There could be complications to his internal organs and this is what we are desperate to know whether he has been severely affected," the 57-year-old coach added.

While Europeans consider malaria to be very serious, Africans are able to withstand the disease which means Wakaso could return to the pitch in no time.

The 25-year-old has returned to the club after spending last season on loan at Scottish side Celtic.
