EFL: Joe Aribo's late minute goal seals win for Southampton

Nigeria Super Eagles midfielder, Joe Aribo was the hero of the day as Southampton defeated Birmingham City in the English Championship on Saturday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Joe Aribo scored a 96th minute winner for Southampton in their hard-earned 4-3 Championship victory away at Birmingham.

Koji Miyoshi opened score for the hosts in the first 2 minutes, but Adam Armstrong equalised for the Saints in the 18th minute.

Jay Stanfield put Birmingham back in front 4 minutes to the end of the first half as the half ended 2-1.

Southampton got back into the game through David Brook on 56 minutes to put the score at 2-2 at St Andrew's.

Four minutes later, Che Adams put the visitors in front for the first time as the hosts fortuned changed following Dion Sanderson sending off for a challenge in the middle of the park.

Juninho Bacca however brought the 10 men Blues to level terms on 77 minutes, setting up a frenetic end to the game.

And at the death, substitute, Joe Aribo who came in for Smallbone in the 70th minute scored after 6 minutes of added time to hand the visitors all points.

The Saints are now 4th on the log with the win on 70 points, 8 points within reach of the league leaders, Leicester City after 35 matches.
