Nigeria has a tough road ahead as it continues rebuilding the national team but the team must move forward according to head Coach Sunday Oliseh.

The former International lost his first official game in charge of the team in a 2-0 defeat to DR Congo, yet Oliseh says he was impressed with the individual performances of Mikel Obi and Shehu Abdullahi.

Oliseh revealed that he had to make do with a makeshift defense because of the last minute absence of preferred choices.

William Troost-Ekong and Leon Balogun played in Center back positions – though both are side backs- and defensive errors saw the new coach suffer his first defeat after 4 matches. ” We have to move on now, we have qualifiers, there are millions of Nigerians who are looking up to us to get this team through these times. But I must say that its been hectic. The way forward now is that we keep going on strong.

” Even though we lost yesterday, there were positives, I saw a very good John Obi Mikel and an impressive Shehu Abdullahi. We suffered because just before we started the camping, Godfrey Oboabona had visa issues, and other issues so we had no players in our defense. ”

” We had to make shift, using right backs in the center. But even though we dominated the game the errors came from there but let’s not blame the boys.”
