Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri is ready to spend big in order to keep his overachieving champions competing with the big guns next season.
Sporting Lisbon forward Islam Slimani has been identified as one of Ranieri's chief targets according to "?A Bola, but it would cost the Foxes around £25m to land him. That sum would break their current transfer record by £16m.
Leicester's highest transfer sum stands at £9m, the amount they paid Rijeka for Andrej Kramaric last January. The forward was loaned to 1899 Hoffenheim this season, however, reports have indicated that he will remain at Leicester; for one more term at least.
Slimani scored 27 goals in 33 league appearances for the Portuguese side in a very fruitful personal campaign. Ranieri probably sees the Algerian as a great option who can compete, or pair up, with Jamie Vardy up front.
The Italian boss is also believed to be eyeing a move for Deportivo la Coruna forward Lucas Perez.
