Chikatara Set To Dump Wydad For South African Clubs

Two unnamed South African clubs made lucrative bids to sign Abia Warriors forward Chisom Chikatara this summer despite him penning a three-year deal with  Morroccan club Wydad Casablanca.

Chikatara was poised to join Wydad this summer but due to the club's inability to pay his transfer fee, his representatives have activated a clause in his contract that allows him to join another team this summer.

“Chikatara’s deal with Wydad Casablanca is on hold because the club have failed to meet up with their financial obligations,” Abia Warriors Chairman Emeka Inyama told Completesportsnigeria.com.

"He (Chikatara) has a clause in his Wydad contract which says that the signed contract remains invalid until his transfer fee has been paid.

“We are a very serious club and we don’t do things haphazardly, so that is the reason why Chikatara isn’t moving there yet.”

Chikatara caught the eye of top scouts at the African Nations Championship in Rwanda where he scored four goals to emerge top scorer of the tournament.
