The Nigerian intermediary of Chidozie Awaziem has confirmed that the on loan FC Porto defender is courting interest from England in the wake of reports linking him with a move to English Championship high fliers Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Awaziem has emerged as one of the best young defenders in France this season, where he is out on loan to Ligue 1 surprise package Nantes, who are under the tutelage of respected Italian gaffer Claudio Ranieri.
The Nigeria international defender has been every present for Nantes this season, and aside his primary role as a central defender, he has also proved his versatility by slotting in effortlessly at left back and right back as well.
Speaking to Owngoalnigeria.com, his Nigerian Intermediary Babawo Mohammed failed to deny the interest from Wolves but revealed that Porto will have the final say on his destination.
He further revealed that Nantes have a clause which empowers them to make his loan move permanent in the summer, but that too is dependent on them agreeing a price with Porto for his transfer fee.
” I can only tell you he has interest from England, and we are currently studying what is best for him. In the meantime Porto will have the final say on his next destination. However Angers have a clause in his loan deal that carries the right to buy him at the end of the season, but the price will have to be set by Porto “, Babawo told Owngoalnigeria.com.
