Chelsea's Tiemoue Bakayoko in minor car accident after training - sources

Chelsea eased into the next round of the Carabao Cup putting five past a brittle Nottingham Forest.

Tiemoue Bakayoko was involved in a minor car accident on the way home from Chelsea training on Thursday, sources have confirmed to ESPN FC.

The accident took place around 3:30 p.m. BST near the Premier League champions' Cobham training complex in Surrey, but Bakayoko did not sustain any serious injury and his chances of being involved in Saturday's trip to the bet365 Stadium to take on Stoke City will not be affected.

It is the second car accident to occur in close proximity to Cobham in less than a month.

On Aug. 25, a 14-year-old autograph hunter suffered minor injuries after being hit by a vehicle on the public road that runs adjacent to the training ground, though no Chelsea players or staff were involved.

Tiemoue Bakayoko's availability will not be affected by Wednesday's accident.

Due to the lingering effects of a knee injury, Bakayoko has started just three matches since joining Chelsea from Monaco for £40 million in July. But he came through 90 minutes with no ill effects in the Blues' 5-1 demolition of Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup third round on Wednesday.

Prior to the match, head coach Antonio Conte said of Bakayoko: "He is playing very well. Don't forget last season he finished the season with surgery in his knee. Now he is in a good physical condition.

"He is starting to adapt himself in our style of football. I am pleased because I think these are good signs for us."
