According to The Telegraph, it is feared Barkley may have suffered a hamstring injury in training this week, although the exact nature and severity of the 24-year-old’s problem has not been fully established.

If doctors confirm that Barkley picked up a hamstring injury, he would become the eighth Chelsea player to have picked up the injury this season, joining Nigeria star Victor Moses, Alvaro Morata, N’Golo Kante, Gary Cahill, Cesc Fabregas, Willian, Andreas Christensen.

In Moses's case, the right wing-back was out of action for about six weeks and sat out games against Watford, Bournemouth, Manchester United and West Brom.
