Brendan Rodgers Has Bagged a Real Gem in Moussa Dembele Says Ex-Liverpool Man

Celtic's summer signing Moussa Dembele has received serious plaudits from ex-Liverpool centre-half Jamie Carragher.

The French striker moved to Parkhead this summer from Fulham despite interest from several Premier League clubs, including Liverpool themselves.

Dembele has made the seamless transition from Fulham to Celtic and scored 12 goals in his first 16 appearances including a hat-trick in the Old Firm derby and putting two past Pep Guardiola's Manchester City.

Brendan Rodgers signed the striker for £500k and that fee already looks shrewd business and Carragher reckons that the Glasgow club can make 20 or 30 times the fee should they decide to sell him on in the future.

The Sky Sports pundit said in a piece with the Daily Mail: "Brendan Rodgers has unearthed a gem. He only cost £500,000 from Fulham and with Rodgers' background in developing young players, there is no question Dembele is in the right place to prosper. He only had to see Raheem Sterling at Parkhead to see how Rodgers handles young talent.

"Already the 20-year-old looks like an absolute bargain and, if he keeps scoring at the rate he has been, Celtic are going to struggle to keep him but potential suitors will have to be wary: if Celtic do eventually sell him, then it is going to be for a fee 20 or 30 times more than their initial outlay."?

Rodgers has a proven track record of harnessing young talent through his time at Liverpool in which Sterling was the largest beneficiary along with the likes of Jordan Ibe and Jon Flanagan
