Birmingham City have received a boost in their chase of Nigerian striker Henry Onyekuru after the player was granted a work permit to play in England

The 20-year-old Onitsha born hotshot has been a regular goalscorer in the Belgian top flight for the division’s new boys, K.A.S Eupen and the player could now be set to launch his senior career by moving to England.

It has been reported that Premier League duo Arsenal and West Ham United are both tracking the youngster while Birmingham City boss Harry Redknapp is keen to take the striker to St Andrews.

Onyekuru is a product of the Aspire Academy, an organisation based in Qatar which helps aspiring young Qatari athletes develop whilst also providing them with an education. The youngster spent five years with the Aspire Academy before joining Belgian outfit K.A.S Eupen in 2015 with the club having created a strong link with the Qatari organisation in recent years.

The striker has taken little time to bed in at the Kehrwegstadion with Onyekuru netting six goals in 19 appearances in his first season with the club before netting an impressive 24 goals in just 41 matches this season.

Onyekuru has been rewarded for his good form with an international call-up to the Nigerian squad and a move to England could now really help the player’s career blossom.
