Benfica Release Touching Twitter Tribute to Favourite Son Renato Sanches

One of the biggest transfers of the new season was Bayern Munich's acquisition of"? Portuguese wonder-kid Renato Sanches from Benfica in May.

The 18-year-old joined Carlo Ancelotti's Bayern side for a fee believed to be an initial €35m fee, which could end up rising to more than €80m, depending on how he performs at the Allianz Arena.

Having come through the ranks of Benfica as a 9-year-old, his former club are understandably heartbroken to see their kid fly the nest for pastures new; as their Twitter tribute would suggest.

It's a moving, heart-felt homage to the youngster with footage from his younger days merged with present-day action, providing a unique and excellent look into the early career of Portugal's newest favourite son.

The youngster played a key role in his country's Euro 2016 victory, surpassing fellow countryman Cristiano Ronaldo as the youngest player to ever feature in a UEFA European Championship final at the ripe old age of 18-years-old, still 38 days removed from his 19th birthday.

And despite the humongous fee they will receive for their star, it is clear to see that money can't buy everything and Benfica will miss their former child prodigy.
