Bayern Munich Set to Rebuff Reported Advances From Tottenham Hotspur for Gifted Talent Spotter

Published on: 23 January 2017

"?Tottenham Hotspur are considering a move to bring Bayern Munich's technical director, Michael Reschke, to the club.

The Lilywhites have been impressed by the 59-year-old's eye for talent since he moved to the German giants in 2014, and could look to lure him away from the Allianz Arena to help the club uncover the world's next big stars, according to German news outlet "?Sport 1.

The same report goes on to claim, however, that any potential offer from Tottenham would be rejected outright by Bayern, who would be extremely resistant to Reschke being enticed away from the reigning Bundesliga champions due to his expert eye for discovering the latest budding superstars.

Reschke has been pivotal in bringing the likes of Joshua Kimmich, Robert Lewandowski and Renato Sanches to the club during his time with Bayern, and was instrumental in them securing the signatures of talented Hoffenheim star Sebatien Rudy and in-demand defender Niklas Sule.

With such a tremendous record in the transfer market, Spurs are apparently keen to speak to the 59-year-old about becoming the club's newest sporting director, but any hopes of beginning to open negotiations with Reschke will be shot down by Bayern, who harbour no plans of letting one of their key backroom personnel leave.

Reschke is currently contracted to Bayern until June 2018, and it would not be a great surprise to see the club hand him a new deal in the coming weeks to ward off interest from Tottenham and any other would-be suitors.

Reschke began life in football as a youth coach before he was poached from Viktoria Frechen by Bayer Leverkusen in July 1979.

He was tasked with leading the club's Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 sides over the next 13 years as he progressed through the ranks at the Bay Arena, and was officially appointed Head of Youth Development in June 1995.

Roles as Manager of the Scout Department and Business Manager at the club followed, but his 25-year association with Leverkusen came to an end in July 2014 when he accepted his current role with Bayern.
