BA United coach Frimpong Manso is savouring his side’s 1-0 win over Bechem United on Saturday but admits his side struggled in their Ghana Premier League opener.

The Apostles needed a late strike from Isaac Danso to grab the points against their regional rivals on their return to the Ghana top-flight after ten years in the lower divisions.

Manso’s starting line up lacked experience with centre-back Nana Egyir, a former Hearts of Oak, Heart of Lions player, as the only veteran.

The ex-international defender knows his side were far from their best but delighted with their first win on their return.

“Although it was at the 85th minute but I realized we were still pushing so all what I told them was to push further till we get done,” Manso said in a post-match interview.

“So we were trying to get the goal and I think we were fortunate to get that goal.

“It was the first game of the season and also it was a regional derby and these guys (BA players) are coming straight from the Division one and the game was on Supersport so you could see the pressure on my boys.

“For me I was not expecting much in terms of performance but all I was expecting was the team to win.”

BA United will be seeking to build on their opening day win when they visit Liberty Professionals, who lost 3-1 at Hasaacas.
