Gaziantepspor defender Gbenga Arokoyo has spoken of his joy at his recall to the Super Eagles after four years in the international wilderness.
The Kwara Football Academy product was in the plans of former coach Stephen Keshi until he traveled to Scandinavia to ink a deal with Mjällby AIF in 2012 and had been ignored for selection by subsequent coaches though his performance for his European teams did not dip.
“Yes, of course I was expecting this call up, I believe it will come one day and thank God it finally came, ” an elated Arokoyo told allnigeriasoccer.com.
“I was contacted through my club and all I did was to go on my knees and give God all the praise.
“The Mali and Luxembourg friendlies are important games for the team and it will be an honour to play in those games.”
The 23-year-old Arokoyo last defended the colours of the Super Eagles in an international friendly against Angola in January 2012.
