Awaziem Reveals How Ex Leicester City Boss Ranieri Transformed Him As A Defender

Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem says working with Claudio Ranieri at French Ligue 1 side Nantes has made him a better defender than when he first arrive in Portugal from FC Porto.

Awaziem is on a season long loan to Nantes who are slowly emerging as the surprise package of French Ligue 1 this season, and his performances has earned him a nomination for the club player of the month award.

The Nigerian whose debut for the senior national team of Nigeria ended on a sour note with Nigeria losing 0-2 to South Africa for the first time in their history says he has been transformed by the coach.

“It’s amazing to be trained by such a character. For any player, it’s amazing to be under his (Ranieri ‘s) command, and as a defender I’m learning a lot. He gives me lot of little things”, Awaziem told the official website of Nantes

The 20 year old also said knowing he has the trust of the coach has also played a major role in shaping his confidence as he goes into games with the mindset of expressing himself and not under the pressure of trying to impress
