Ashleigh Plumptre returned home to surprise her friends and family several weeks after undergoing surgery and rehabilitation in Qatar and the UK, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

In an emotional video, Plumptre visited family and friends at different intervals and each expressing surprise at seeing the Super Falcons defender.

The Al-Ittihad Ladies defender who has been injured for some months had missed the Olympics qualifying match against South Africa due to injury.

She underwent a successful surgery in April but has continued her rehabilitation plan to return in time for the Olympics which begins next month.

The former Leicester City player was an integral part of the Super Falcons team that lost to eventual finalists, England at the Women's World Cup in Australia.
