Carrasco, then at former club Monaco, tore apart Wenger's Arsenal side in the Champions League last sixteen last season, as part of a front-line that included Anthony Martial, now of Manchester United. The 3-1 victory at The Emirates sparked perhaps the most intense criticism of the 66-year-old's managerial reign.
Wenger's critics may also ask why he did not do more to prevent Carrasco moving to Atletico last summer, if he is interested in the player now.
Despite not being a regular starter in his debut season at Atletico Madrid, Carrasco has made Belgium manager Marc Wilmots' 23-man squad for the forthcoming European Championships.
A poor season from recently-deposed PFA Player of the Year Eden Hazard at Chelsea has opened the door to the possibility that the 22-year-old may secure a starting birth at Euro 2016.
