Former Enugu Rangers head coach Imama Amapakabo has joined top-flight team El Kanemi Warriors

The former Enyimba and Sharks coach secured a one-year deal with the management of the Maiduguri side for the upcoming 2017/18 league season.

Amapakabo ended the Coal City side’s almost 32-year-long wait for a league crown when his side won the 2015/16 league season.

The Maiduguri Warriors and the former Flying Eagles and Kano Pillars coach, Ladan Bosso, recently agreed to part ways.

Bosso guided the Maiduguri landlords to a respectable sixth finish in the just concluded 2016/17 top-flight season.

Supersport.com learnt that the Super Eagles assistant coach will be officially unveiled to the public in Maiduguri next week.

The one-year contractual deal is performance based as renewal will be subject to an impressive performance at the end of the upcoming new league season.

Amapakabo is said to be satisfied with the personal terms as well as other packages involved in the deal.

The former Nigerian junior international goalkeeper is said to be keen on hitting the ground running and will aim to take the side to new heights in the coming season.

Meanwhile, El-Kanemi Warriors FC has dropped 15 players and retained 25 ahead of the new Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.

In a statement made available to Naija Sports, the club’s Media Manager, Anthony Obaseki, disclosed that the retained players are George Michael, Ehis Kenneth, Chibuzor Okonkwo, Ajia Emmanuel, Mathias Samuel, Suleiman Dori, Tchoanfine Pade, Lucky Erimuya, Aghoha Otakho, Babangida lbrahim, Bello Kofarmata.

Others are Efe Yarhere, Abraham Audu, Hussain Bata, Hashimu Haliru, Alimanika, Usman Mohammed, lsiaka Olawale, Baakaka Ajikolo, Umar lsa, Sunday Anthony, Ali Yusuf, Yahuza Bala, Umar Audu , lsa Usman and Alhaji Mohammed.
