According to Sky Sports, Aluko will face competition from Cote d’Ivoire and Cardiff defender Sol Bamba and Millwall’s Ben Marshall for the award.

The shortlist for the poll is decided by a judging panel following suggestions from supporters via Twitter with the winner chosen by a fan poll on skysports.com

Picking the ball up just inside his own half, Aluko showed great skill to go past QPR’s Jake Bidwell before cutting in from the right and hammering a blistering shot past Alex Smithies from more than 20 yards.

It was Aluko’s third goal for the season with the win being new manager Paul Clement’s first after replacing Jaap Stam.

Also, it was Reading’s first win in 10 matches and was a massive three points in their fight for Championship survival.

Voting is now open until Tuesday, April 10 while the winner will be announced on Friday, April 13.
