Akpom Benched As PAOK Beat Spartak Moscow To Secure UCL Play-Off Round Spot

Nigerian born forward, Chuba Akpom, was on the bench for the entire 90 minutes as Greek club, PAOK FC booked a place in the play-off round of the Champions League following a 3-2 win against Russia’s Spartak Moscow.

Spartak Moscow who were held to a 0-0 draw at home by PAOK in the first leg stunned fans at the Stadio Toumbus, Thessaloniki when they raced into a two goal early in the lead.

Ivelin Popov gave them the lead on seven minutes, while Quincy Promes doubled the lead 10 minutes later.

The hosts however rallied back before the end of the first half with three goals of theirs.

Aleksandar Prijovic reduced the deficit a minute before the half hour mark, while Dimitris Limnios grabbed the equaliser in the 37th minute.

Dimitris Polkas netted the winning goal a minute before the break.

Akpom recently joined PAOK from English Premier League club, Arsenal where he started his football career from the academy.
