AFCON 2023: Moses Simon acknowledges Cameroon's quality, says no revenge on their minds for past final loses

Nigeria Super Eagles forward, Moses Simon remained respectful for Super Eagles opponents, Cameroon ahead of their African Cup of Nations round of 16 clash on Saturday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Nantes player who spoke alongside the coach of the team, Jose Peseiro in the pre match press conference stated that the team will approach the game as it comes.

He acknowledged the  good quality and ability of the team, but disclosed the Super Eagles team also has good quality to match their opponents.

"2019 we played against them, they are strong. I believe they are better than the last time. And I believe also my team are better than 2019. So we will see after the game."

Simon ruled out revenge in the minds of the Super Eagles players after the 3 final loses of 1984, 1988 and 2000 against the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.

Asked about revenge, Simon said "I think no because most of us here we don't read mostly history we just want to play and we just want to win.

Simon stated that the Nigerian team knows the Cameroonian team well and can stand them in the match that will be played at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan on Saturday by 6pm.
