Inform Ghana midfielder Solomon Asante says he is focused on Ghana’s group opener against Senegal and nothing else.

The24 year old wing wizard will be competing in his second AFCON competition in Equatorial Guinea.

He played a key role as Ghana finished fourth in South Africa two years ago and will be looking to having a similar effect in Equatorial Guinea this time around.

“Our team is one with both experience and technique. We have had disappointment in this competition for some time now and we  feel if we do the basic things right we can go all the way,”

“The first step is thinking and focusing on our game against Senegal, that will shape our campaign here in Equatorial Guinea.”

The TP Mazembe forward told Ghanasoccernet.com

Asante has had a stellar season at club level where he was pivotal in Mazembe match to the semi-place albeit it ended in disappointment but he says he will gladly swap a CAF champions league trophy with a nations cup trophy.

“I had a strong conviction that we could win the CAF Champions league but one of the most beautiful aspects of our game is the unpredictable nature but I will always pick a nations cup trophy first.”

Ghana have been handed a tough draw with Senegal, Algeria who are amongst the top ten best teams in Africa at the moment and a South Africa side that have looked special in recent times.
