AFCON 2015: Ghana midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu puts Senegal defeat to loss of concentration
Black Stars

Midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has attributed Ghana’s defeat to Senegal to lack of concentration.

The Black Stars threw away a first half lead to ultimately lose 2-1 to Senegal in their opening game at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations on Monday.

Andre Ayew had given Ghana a flying start to the tournament when he converted a 13th minute penalty.

But Mame Biram Diouf and Moussa Sow led the charge of a resurgent Senegal in the second half to clinch the win.

Agyemang-Badu who played the entire duration of the game blamed his side’s crushing defeat on their inability to keep their full concentration throughout the match.

“I think we have to just concentrate more,” Badu told Africanfootball.com after the game.

“That is the most important thing to do but with the cohesion and with the ball we played in the first half, I think when we continue like this we will do something.”

In the last edition of AFCON Rabiu mohamed was substituted in the semi final match against Burkina Faso and they equalized. How come Grant made the same mistake in the match and Senegal dominated the midfield play?

Bottomline is,we never learn from our mistakes.. We committed similar errors against USA n Portugal at de world cup by being wasteful n losing concentration close to de end ...As de game went on yesterday,i kept emphasizing de need for a second n third goal to kill off n deflate de senegalese. Knowing they were stronger n physically fitter dan our boys,we were always going to struggle in de 2nd half. But wat happened,we squandered glorious opportunities, esp Atsu who i think is an overhyped player lacking ambition n focus n must be dropped in future assignments until he starts pulling his weight...cos if u cant convert from 11 yards with ur favourite left foot when confronted by only de goalie, then wat use r u to us...Grant must revert to de 4 4 2 formation n introduce Solomon Asante on de ryt
