Debutant Daniel Amartey has mixed feelings over Ghana’s defeat to Senegal in their opening game at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Black Stars blew an early lead to lose 2-1 to the Teranga Lions in the game played on Monday in Mongomo.

Andre Ayew had given Ghana a 14th minute lead through a penalty kick but Mame Biram Diouf and Moussa Sow struck in the second half to hand Alain Giresse’s side the win.

Ghana fielded a number of young players who were playing their first ever tournament for the Black Stars in Monday’s defeat.

Amartey who is one of such young players excelled in the match which saw him win the Fair Play award for the match.

The Copenhagen player though happy with his individual effort which didn’t go unrecognized is saddened by the disappointing result.

“I feel good and at the same time I feel sad for my teammates and my country,” he told MTNFootball.com.

“We played very well in the first half, second half we played good but on luck, they got two chances and they scored.

“But it is not over, we have to be strong and be determined.

“Go back, train well and come back strongly.”
