The Black Stars have been drawn in Group H alongside the island nation in the 2017 CAF African Cup of Nations qualifiers, however it remains unclear whether Paintsil will form part of the Ghana squad for the tie on the weekend of 12-14 June 2015.

According to reports in that country, Black Stars head coach, Avram Grant is said to have included the 33-year-old defender in his squad.

However Management Committee Chief, George Afriyie says he is unaware of Paintsil’s inclusion in the squad

“I am currently unaware if John Paintsil has been called up to the Black Stars,” he told Ghanasoccernet.com

“He is a very good player and one of the most capped players in the Black Stars,” he added.

Despite this claim by Afriyie, a section of the media are continuing with the report that Paintsil has been recalled to the national.

Paintsil currently boasts 88 caps for the Black Stars and has enjoyed a steller first season for the Team of Choice having made 27 league starts and helping guide his side to a top eight finish.
