The end of season Super 4 Tournament to determine the overall champions of the season in the Bet9ja Nigeria National League (NNL) will hold in Lagos from January 7 to January 9.

The league’s Chief Operating Officer, Lawrence Katken disclosed this today in Lagos that the three-day tournament would hold at the New-Look “Soccer Temple’’, Agege Stadium.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Heartland FC of Owerri and Afonja Warriors of Ilorin, emerged winners of both the Southern and Northern Conferences in the regular season of the league.

Go-Round FC of Omoku and Yobe Desert Stars of Damaturu were both runners up and will also compete in the tournament.

Katsina United, Abubakar Bukola Saraki (ABS), Remo Stars and Gombe United competed in the Super 4 last season with Katsina emerging champions.

According to Katken, the tournament is expected to attract soccer fans to the venue owing to the pedigree of the four teams that will play in the Nigeria Professional Football League in the new season.

“Apart from the stiff competition expected, the Super 4 will provide a veritable platform to reward deserving individuals and administrators who distinguished themselves in the 2016/2017 season,” Katken said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Annual General Assembly (AGA) of the League, a precursor for the new season will also hold in Lagos, while draws for the new season’s fixtures among others top the agenda for the assembly.

According to the statement, Chidi Offor-Okenwa, Chairman of the league, commends the Lagos State Government, its Sports Commission and Football Association for accepting to partner with Bet9ja NNL to stage the tournament.

It added that the board has saluted the enigmatic and huge role played by the Chairman of K.C. Gamings Limited, Operators of the biggest sports bet — Bet9ja, Kunle Soname, for sponsoring the league.

“NNL cannot thank Bet9ja enough for their gesture,’’ Okenwa said.
